Ohio Strip Club Culture

Despite Ohio's recent tougher regulations on strip clubs and other adult establishments, you can still enjoy yourself at any number of the Buckeye state's deluxe gentleman's clubs. Christy's Cabaret has several establishments throughout the state, as well as the Diamond Royale, and, in Stark County, Gatsby's. Most offer gentleman's lunch and drink specials, as well as private table dancing in clean, comfortable surroundings. Prices range from $5.00-$15.00 cover charges and a minimum of two $5.00 drinks. Most dancers charge $5.00-a-dance per song, or $15.00-$20.00 per private table dance in the lounge area.

In 2007, Governor Strickland signed bipartisan state legislation sponsored by a conservative religious organization in Cincinnati limiting the distance and contact between dancers and patrons (no closer than four feet between the parties). In addition, dancers in clubs serving alcohol cannot be completely topless past midnight, and all adult clubs must close by 2AM. The Governor passed these ordinances because there are no votes to be gained from strip club owners and patrons, and dancers are not a protected class of citizens anyway. Surprise, politics as usual! Some clubs, fearing that the new laws would hurt their businesses, changed their establishments to non-dancer bars. But don't worry: a good many others have stayed on, though not all have strictly followed the revised laws. In all honesty, police have, in most cases, showed little interest in enforcing these laws, although that could change if their sponsors complain to the media. At least for now, however, many Ohio strip club customers should be happy to know that it seems to be "business as usual."

In many clubs, dancers still sit on patrons' laps and make incidental--and sometimes more than incidental--contact with customers, although you didn't hear that from me! Most of the girls in bars that serve alcohol still remain topless past midnight. Some, for an extra fee, may be willing to display even more flesh.

Even clubs that do follow the new laws, though, feature beautiful, friendly ladies, naughty but "clean" fun, safe, comfortable accommodations, and, as mentioned earlier, great drink and food specials (especially during "happy hour"). So go out and enjoy what Ohio strip clubs can offer. You won't be disappointed!
